Krista won The San Diego Water District’s ‘Water Wise Garden of the Year’ (for her own garden) and likes to help her clients use local incentives for water reduction and turf grass removal offered by their water departments.
All three gardens shown above were designed by Krista over the years and all won the Mission Hills Garden Club’s ‘Green Thumb’ Award
Krista began her professional career as an attorney in California and decided she needed a career change to find more balance and enjoyment in her life. She went back to school and started designing and then installing landscapes in 2001. Over the years, Krista has won numerous awards for her work including winning HGTV’s Landscaper’s Challenge (featured nationally), San Diego County’s Water Wise Garden of the Year (for her own garden) and The Mission Hills Garden Club’s Green Thumb Award (three times). Her work has also been featured in San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles magazine.
In 2004 Krista was featured on HGTV’s Designer’s Challenge ( a TV show and design competition). Her tv clients selected her design for their back yard and the design, process, installation, and results were shown on national television.

In 2018, Krista’s work was published in San Diego Home and Garden Magazine.

In addition to her work in landscape design, Krista teaches yoga, meditation and self-myofascial release. She loves her students and enjoys hosting yoga retreats for them in dreamy locations.
Krista believes in service as a lifestyle. Krista has served her community by designing school gardens at La Jolla Elementary and Skyline Elementary School in Solana Beach. She currently mentors students who want to explore landscape design as a profession at Canyon Crest High School. She also teaches mindfulness based stress reduction seminars to teen service groups such as Teen Volunteers in Action and National Charity League.
For many years she served as the co-director of the Mindful Movement Program for the Solana Beach school district while her kids were in the district and taught yoga P.E in her son’s classrooms.
