Water-conserving “riot of color” in Kensington

Krista’s client Dona bought a cute home in Kensington. She wanted lots of seasonal color and a new wood wrap-around deck along the back of her house, but she didn’t want the thirsty, high-maintenance grass or the tiny deck and chopped up spaces.

BEFORE: Lots of thirsty grass, a tiny deck, insufficient awnings and an old arbor that didn’t do their jobs of shading sun out well.

AFTER: New cedar deck and arbor lead to colorful plantings.

AFTER: Paths with small seating areas allow one to enjoy the color, texture, and interest from all different perspectives of the garden.

AFTER: Dona and her daughter enjoying the new garden.

AFTER: Dona got her “riot of color” with interest in each season, cut her water bill significantly, and only needs monthly instead of weekly maintenance. The expanded deck wraps around the back of the whole house and provides much more room for entertaining and opportunities to enjoy the new garden.
